Can you balance work and motherhood? Of course.

On Behalf of | Jul 23, 2018 | child custody |

Your family is important to you but things maybe have not been as smooth with your spouse lately. You might be thinking about getting a divorce, but there are a lot of concerns you might have, still. The first is how you can continue to provide for your family without your spouse’s income.

Divorce is a major change and can affect all aspects of your life. You may need to go back to work to provide for yourself and your family, but this is another huge change. Can you balance working and being a good mother to your children? The answer is yes. With organization and support you can balance work and motherhood with ease.

Though finding a good combination of career and family may seem difficult, there are ways to make it easier on yourself. Here are a few tips that can make the work and family balance come naturally:

Maintain your schedule

Making and keeping a schedule is a key aspect of organization that can help you stay on track with work and your family. Write down all aspects of your day and hold yourself accountable to your schedule. This will help you keep track of work obligations as well as other commitments you might have.

Structure will also help your children so they know what to expect day to day. Plan time for family meals and playtime with your kids. This way, you can build family time into your schedule, too.

Seek support from others

There is nothing wrong with asking for help from other people in both your work and for your family. If you need to delegate some responsibilities at work to prioritize family, you should do this.

At the same time, you can seek support from your friends and family to help you with your parenting responsibilities. For example, if you need someone to pick up the kids from school or watch them for an afternoon, there is no harm in asking a relative or neighbor to help.

Take care of yourself, too

Make sure to take time for yourself, too. Working and parenting are both full-time jobs, and you deserve time off from both responsibilities from time to time. Make sure you are getting enough sleep and are staying healthy.

Worrying about working and parenting at the same time should not hold you back from getting a divorce, if that is what you need. There are plenty of single mothers today who balance their career and their family with ease, and you can too.
