Grace Mason

ATTORNEY AT LAW

Biography

Grace Mason helps her clients find stability and solutions while navigating stressful family law matters.

Grace went into the legal field with one driving goal: helping everyday Minnesotans handle legal issues that impact their everyday lives. After attending law school at the University of Minnesota, Grace began her career at Central Minnesota Legal Services, a legal aid office in Saint Cloud. While there, she protected her client’s physical safety and financial stability through her work in family and housing law.

In family law matters, Grace protected her clients’ interests through securing Orders for Protection, crafting custody agreements focused on child safety and family reconciliation, and fighting for a fair division of property and financial support. She aims to bring the same dedication and skill to her work at Olson Law.

Here For You

Grace understands that navigating the legal system can be overwhelming, nerve-wracking, and emotional, especially in a family law proceeding. Her goal as an attorney is to alleviate some of that stress for her clients—not add to it.

When working with Grace and Olson Law, clients don’t need to fear judgment from their own legal team. Grace believes that every person deserves to be treated with respect and strives to create a space for her clients to feel heard and valued.

Grace also believes that each of her clients deserves transparency from their attorney and a clear understanding of their legal situation. Grace is skilled at explaining legal concepts in a way that non-lawyers can easily understand, and ensures her clients feel confident about their case through providing timely and thorough answers to their questions.

Because every family is unique, Grace knows that every client comes to the office with different legal needs and goals. She doesn’t take a singular approach to every case; rather, she really listens to each of her clients, and tailors her strategy at the negotiation table and courthouse to meet their unique needs and goals.

No-Nonsense Advice, No-Nonsense Negotiation

Grace grew up in a family of small-town farmers and brings the down-to-earth, no-nonsense attitude she was raised with to her work in family law. Whether she is speaking with her clients, other attorneys, or even the Court, Grace gets to the point and pushes for common-sense solutions, never wasting her clients’ time and money by grandstanding or using excessive legal jargon.

When providing you with legal advice, Grace will give you a straightforward and honest view of your legal situation and thoroughly explain how Minnesota’s laws apply to your case. While Grace is approachable and friendly by nature, she won’t shy away from discussing the issues or challenges she sees in a case. Rather, she addresses them up front and gives her clients concrete steps towards improving their position in the long term.

Grace takes this same no-nonsense attitude to the negotiation table, where most family law cases are resolved. Tensions and emotions tend to run high when negotiating a family law issue. In Grace’s experience, when negotiations fail, it is usually because people get hung up on smaller disputes that make them angry, rather than focusing on the big picture. To avoid this common pitfall, Grace encourages everyone to view negotiation as a chance to find solutions that make objective sense for the entire family, instead of an opportunity to argue over which person is “right” and “wrong” about specific issues and disputes. Grace’s goal in nearly every negotiation is to craft an agreement that best minimizes the financial, logistical, and emotional burden of splitting up households.

Zealous Courtroom Advocacy

If things do go to Court, Grace and the whole team at Olson Law are prepared to fight hard for you. Grace has the experience and practical know-how to litigate a variety of family law issues, from custody and parenting time disputes to issues with division of property. She and her colleagues at Olson Law work as a team to thoroughly prepare evidence and testimony before your court date, which keeps nasty surprises and last-minute problems to a minimum.
